Will I learn how to do TTouch in my session?

Definitely.  One of the great things about TTouch is that you learn how to do the touches.  With a little practice you will be prepared to use the touches to help your pet whenever and wherever the need arises.

Do I need a medical background to learn TTouch?

No.  It is not necessary to understand anatomy to effectively execute the touches.

How is TTouch different from other training methods?

TTouch helps animals move beyond instinct so that they can learn appropriate ways to respond to their environment.  By focusing on what the animal is “telling” us through posture and behavior and responding with gentle, positive techniques we are able to influence behavior without creating stress or fear.  This allows them to act instead of re-act.

Is TTouch a form of massage?

No.  Although both offer significant benefits, they affect the body in different ways.  While massage involves manipulating muscle tissue, Tellington TTouch is primarily concerned with providing sensory information from the external and internal environments to the nervous system.  This new type of sensory input (these new sensations) results in a variety of responses including the release of muscle tension and improvements in body awareness, physical coordination and mental focus.

What are the “wraps” that TTouch uses?

Ace bandages or other soft, stretchy cloths are wrapped in various configurations on the body as another means of providing new sensory information to the brain.  The wraps bring awareness to various parts of the body helping with confidence, balance and focus.  The light pressure is also helpful in overcoming fear and nervousness.

What is the TTouch groundwork?

Also called the "Confidence Course" or "Playground of Higher Learning", groundwork involves leading the animal slowly and deliberately through different obstacles and textures. These movement exercises improve balance, coordination, focus and attention.

Individual/Private sessions are available by appointment and are conducted at your home, Vitality Petcare Holistic Center (Dallas) or other suitable location.  They provide the opportunity to focus on the special needs of your pet.  Three sessions are recommended to provide enough time for you to learn the techniques that will help support your animal's progress.  More sessions may be needed depending on the nature, severity and number of issues being addressed.

1-Day Workshops offer a chance to learn TTouch fundamentals with or without your pet.  TTouch is taught through discussion, demonstration and hand-on instruction.  You will learn specific touches, how to use wraps and the confidence course movement exercises.  Workshops and Demos can be customized to address the specific needs and interests of your group or organization.
